I am an anthropologist who studies law, gender and sexuality, and Islamic traditions. I have conducted fieldwork in the Kurdistan region of Iraq since 2004, working primarily in Sorani Kurdish, alongside textual traditions in Arabic and Persian.
I am currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Bard College in New York, USA. I was recently a Visiting Fellow at the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World at Harvard Law School, and previously at New York University Abu Dhabi, I was a Humanities Research Fellow, a Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer in Humanities. My first book, Between Muslims: Religious Difference in Iraqi Kurdistan, was published by Stanford University Press in September 2020. Contact me at andrewbush.edu at gmail dot com. |
